Pool Heaters: Enjoy Your Pool Year-Round

A pool heater is a vital component for any pool owner looking to extend their swimming season beyond just the summer months. Whether you have an in-ground or above-ground pool, a heater ensures that your water stays at a comfortable temperature, allowing you to enjoy a refreshing dip even when the weather starts to cool down.

Types of Pool Heaters:

  1. Electric Heat Pumps: Heat pumps operate by capturing heat from the air and transferring it to the pool water. They are energy-efficient options, especially in regions with moderate climates. While they may take longer to heat the pool compared to gas heaters, they are more cost-effective to operate over time.

Benefits of Pool Heaters:

  1. Extended Swimming Season: With a pool heater, you can enjoy your pool for a more extended period, even during cooler months or chilly evenings.

  2. Comfort and Enjoyment: Maintaining a comfortable water temperature ensures an enjoyable swimming experience for you, your family, and your guests.

  3. Health and Wellness: Regular swimming offers numerous health benefits, including cardiovascular exercise, muscle toning, and stress relief. A heated pool encourages year-round activity, promoting better health and well-being.

  4. Increased Property Value: A pool with a heater adds value to your property, making it more attractive to potential buyers if you decide to sell in the future.

How It Works
Pool heat pumps are NOT fast heaters.  You must allow at least 48 hours before swimming for the pool to be noticeable heated.  Allow the heat pump pool heater and the pool filter pump to operate continuously until the desired pool water temperature is reached.  This is best accomplished by removing the pool pump timer cogs (pins/stops).  This prevents the pump from cycling off and allows for continuous operation.  When you are ready to swim again, it will require less energy and time to regain the preferred temperature.
If you are planning on using pool on the weekends, it is more economical to turn the heat pump down a few degrees and cover the pool to maintain the heat achieved and raise to the preferred temp again quickly when uncovered.
You unit must always run in conjunction with the filter pump and the times of day that the filter pump is set to run regardless of the pool heater setting.  All of these conditions, including any special features, automation, dual speed pumps, etc. need to be taken into consideration to learn how many hours of operation it will take to maintain a sufficiently heated pool.

Maintenance Tips:

To keep your pool heater running smoothly, regular maintenance is essential. Here are some tips:

  • Clean or replace the filter regularly to ensure proper water flow.
  • Check for any leaks or corrosion and address them promptly.
  • Keep the area around the heater clear of debris and vegetation.
  • Avoid sprinklers spraying on the unit.
  • Avoid pets voiding themselves on the unit.
  • Avoid heavy foilage too close to the unit.  It may look nicer but it contributes to affecting the operation of your unit and it also allows for promoting debris around the unit attracting wildlife and insects to make their homes inside of your unit.
  • Gently rinse the outside of the coil periodically (ie after cutting grass, etc) to keep it free of debris.  DO NOT PRESSURE CLEAN the coil as it will render the unit inefficient.

In conclusion, investing in a quality pool heater from Pool Heaters pool allows you to make the most of your swimming pool, transforming it into a year-round oasis of relaxation and enjoyment for you and your loved ones.
